Geographic Coverage
Each cell shows the count of churches evaluated in that state or province. Brighter = more coverage. A future revision will replace this grid with a true choropleth map.

Top Denominations
The 25 most-represented denominations in the directory. SBC, PCA, OPC, EFCA, ARP, and Reformed Baptist receive the deepest theological evaluation. Tradition-thin denominations are progressively backfilled.
Personal Engagement
How deep the editor's first-hand engagement with each church goes. Most records are at the website-research level; targeted Fredericksburg, DC-metro, and Hampton Roads churches receive in-person visits, online service review, and leadership interaction.
Near-Term Roadmap
7,777 was the original ambitious-target gate (crossed at V5.0.0); 10,000 was the V10.0 horizon (crossed mid-2026). The directory's coverage horizon now extends to the full
357,777-congregation US religious landscape (US Religion Census 2020, rounded to a 7-themed number). See the
full V5 → V10 roadmap for the early-phase plan. Milestones:
- 1,000 — Foundation: Fredericksburg + immediate VA / DC-metro launch (early 2026)
- 2,000 — Hampton Roads + Virginia statewide
- 3,000 — Southeast SBC + ACNA/LCMS infill
- 4,000 — Reformed traditions: PCA, OPC, EPC, ARP, RB foundations
- 4,777 — Ambitious-target gate (crossed at V5.0.0, 2026-05-02): National Reformed expansion + Continental Reformed (URCNA / HRC / FRCNA / PRC / RCUS) + Sovereign Grace Churches + LCMS Midwest stronghold + 350+ public-statement signature attributions
- 5,000 → 6,000 — SBC megachurch coverage + denominational drift documentation (Saddleback / Bayside / Fern Creek precedents) + Acts 29 nationwide
- 6,000 → 7,000 — Anabaptist (Mennonite, Brethren), Wesleyan/Holiness orthodox (GMC), Pentecostal/Charismatic conservative wings (Foursquare, Vineyard)
- 7,000 → 7,777 — Original target gate reached: thin-state cleanup, signature attribution work, sermon-archive backfill begun
- 10,000 (V10.0) — Working horizon expanded with the seventh and final canonical signature ledger (CBE Egalitarian Network 2026) + Trinity Foundation Registry cross-listing layer
- 13,895 → 17,777 — SPA-rendered staff page extraction (~3,200 records) + legacy numeric rating normalization + address backfill so the ~1,152 big-list signer matches can re-attempt + ARBCA / Reformed Baptist Network / FIRE / FCA expansion
- 17,777 → 27,777 — Mainline Protestant editorial pass (PCUSA / UMC / TEC / ELCA / DOC / UCC) — most of these will rate red or black under the rubric, but the explicit per-record evaluation makes the editorial position defendable
- 27,777 → 77,777 — Independent / non-denominational coverage at scale (the largest single denomination-family bucket in the US, and the hardest to evaluate uniformly)
- 77,777 → 357,777 — Long-tail coverage of the full US congregation landscape: every county evaluated, every denominational family represented, every record carrying at least the foundational signal layers
Methodology Note
Each church record carries a 10-dimension theological score (Christology, Scripture, Gender, Leadership, Soteriology, Cultural, Preaching, Mission, Men's Discipleship, Denominational), seven public-statement signatory cross-references (Warhurst Protest 2020, AMR 2026, Letter of Lament 2025, Revoice, Dallas Statement 2018, Nashville Statement 2017, CBE Egalitarian 2026), pastor and pulpit-transition tracking, and a personal-engagement record. Records are progressively enriched. Scoring is conservative-orthodox; cultural drift, female-senior-pastor SBC churches, and Revoice-adjacent congregations are flagged transparently with documented reasons.
Sources include denominational find-a-church locators (sbc.net, pcanet.org, opc.org, epc.org, arpchurch.org, urcna.org, etc.), individual church websites for pastor and theological-statement verification, and seven hand-curated public-statement signatory lists maintained alongside the directory. Where verification is incomplete, records are flagged needs_review rather than guessed.
