The Greek adjective dexios means "right" in the sense of the right side or right hand. In biblical usage the right hand is the place of honor, strength, authority, and blessing. To be "at the right hand" of a king was to occupy the highest place of favor and shared authority.
The dexia (right hand) of God is among Scripture's most exalted spatial metaphors. The Ascension is described as Christ being "seated at the right hand" of the Father (Mark 16:19; Hebrews 1:3) — not a literal description of God's anatomy but a declaration that the crucified carpenter now shares in universal authority and rulership. Stephen, at martyrdom, saw Jesus standing at the right hand (Acts 7:55). This reality is the foundation of Christian confidence: our advocate and intercessor occupies the throne of the universe.
