G2108 · Greek · New Testament
εὐεργεσία
euergesia
Noun, Feminine
Beneficence, good deed, act of kindness

Definition

From G2110 (euergetēs, benefactor). A good work, act of kindness or benefit. Tangible, practical goodness.

Usage & Theological Significance

Euergesia appears in Acts 4:9 when Peter is questioned about healing: 'If we be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man...' The irony: religious authorities interrogating an act of mercy. The word teaches that genuine Christianity produces tangible benefit. Faith without works of kindness is dead.
