G2149 · Greek · New Testament
εὐρύχωρος
eurychōros
Adjective
Broad, spacious, wide

Definition

From G2095 (eu) and G5561 (chōra). Literally 'having much room.' Used by Jesus describing the broad way to destruction.

Usage & Theological Significance

Eurychōros appears in Jesus' sobering warning: 'Broad is the way that leadeth to destruction' (Matthew 7:13). The spaciousness is the danger — comfortable, easy, asking nothing. The narrow way demands everything. Spiritual danger often feels like freedom, and true freedom often feels like constraint.
