Μεγαλοφρων
Megalophrōn
Adjective
High-Minded / Magnanimous

Definition

From megas (great) and phrēn (mind). Having a great or elevated mind. Can be positive (magnanimous, noble-minded) or negative (proud, conceited), depending on context.

Usage & Theological Significance

Scripture calls believers to have great minds focused on great things — but always with humility. Paul commands: 'Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable — think about such things' (Philippians 4:8). Great-mindedness directed toward God produces wisdom; directed toward self, it produces pride.
