Περικαλυπτω
Perikaluptō
Verb
To Cover Around / To Blindfold / To Overlay

Definition

From peri (around) and kaluptō (to cover). To cover all around, to blindfold, to overlay completely. Used of blindfolding Jesus during His trial.

Usage & Theological Significance

The soldiers blindfolded Jesus and demanded He prophesy who struck Him (Luke 22:64). The irony is devastating: they blindfolded the One who sees all things, mocked the gift of prophecy before the greatest Prophet. Human attempts to hide from God's sight are futile.
