From peri (around) and oikos (house). One who dwells nearby, a neighbor. The noun form of the concept of neighboring.

Usage & Theological Significance

The neighbors of Zechariah and Elizabeth became witnesses to God's miraculous work. Their proximity made them firsthand observers of divine faithfulness. God places believers strategically among neighbors so His works can be witnessed up close.
