Πιπρασκω
Pipraskō
Verb
To Sell

Definition

To sell, to dispose of for a price. Used of selling possessions, selling oneself into slavery to sin, and Judas' betrayal of Jesus for thirty pieces of silver.

Usage & Theological Significance

Jesus said to the rich young ruler: 'Go, sell your possessions and give to the poor' (Matthew 19:21). Paul describes humanity as 'sold under sin' (Romans 7:14) — enslaved like a commodity. The early church 'sold' their possessions to share with those in need (Acts 2:45). What we sell and what we buy reveals our deepest values.
