Adjective
Full / Complete / Filled

Definition

Pleres (πλήρης) means full, complete, filled, or abounding. The adjective form of pleroo (G4137, to fill). It describes someone or something completely filled — with a physical substance, spiritual quality, or emotional state.

Usage & Theological Significance

Stephen is described as full of faith and the Holy Spirit (Acts 6:5), full of grace and power (Acts 6:8) — the portrait of a Spirit-filled believer saturated with God's character. Jesus is full of grace and truth (John 1:14). In contrast, Jesus calls Pharisees full of greed and wickedness (Luke 11:39). Pleres functions as a spiritual diagnostic: what are you full of? Barnabas was full of the Holy Spirit and faith (Acts 11:24). Every person is filled with something — the question is whether it is the Spirit or self.
