συμμερίζομαι
symmerízomai
Verb
To Share In Together

Definition

Symmerízomai (συμμερίζομαι) means to share in something together, to partake jointly. From syn (together) + merizō (to divide/share).

Usage & Theological Significance

First Corinthians 9:13: those who serve at the altar 'share in' what is offered on the altar. Paul argues that gospel ministers deserve material support, though he voluntarily waives this right. Ministry creates a community of mutual participation. Those who receive spiritual blessing have responsibility to share materially (Romans 15:27; Galatians 6:6). The early church's radical generosity was evidence of genuine koinōnia.

Key Bible Verses

1 Corinthians 9:13 Those who serve at the altar share in what is offered on the altar.
Galatians 6:6 The one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.
Romans 15:27 If the Gentiles have shared in the Jews' spiritual blessings, they owe it to share their material blessings.
