Hypopnéō (ὑποπνέω) means to blow gently, to blow softly. From hypo (gently) + pneō (to blow). Appears once in Acts.
Acts 27:13: 'when a gentle south wind began to blow, they thought they had obtained what they wanted; so they weighed anchor.' This gentle wind gave the sailors false confidence — they proceeded despite Paul's warning, then the northeaster struck. Favorable circumstances are not always God's green light. Smooth sailing can deceive us into ignoring wise counsel. Yet even this mistake was in God's providence — it led Paul to Rome as promised. Even our errors cannot thwart God's plan.
