אֹהַד
Ohad
Proper noun, masculine
Ohad — Unity, Power

Definition

The name Ohad appears in the genealogical lists of Simeon's sons (Genesis 46:10; Exodus 6:15). His line is not mentioned in later tribal census lists of Numbers, suggesting his descendants may have died out or merged with other families.

Usage & Theological Significance

The sparse mention of Ohad illustrates how God's purposes encompass even those whose names appear only in passing. Every name in the genealogical lists represents a life, a family, and a chapter in God's story with Israel. Jesus' assurance that the Father knows every sparrow that falls — and that His people are of infinitely greater value (Matthew 10:29-31) — applies equally to the seemingly forgotten.
