זוּן
Zun
Verb
To nourish / feed / sustain

Definition

The verb zun means to nourish, feed, or sustain — to provide the food and nutrition needed for life. It is related to mazon (food/nourishment). Though rare in the Hebrew Bible, the concept of divine nourishment saturates the Scriptures. God is the ultimate provider who sustains all living things with food and life.

Usage & Theological Significance

The concept of divine nourishment runs throughout Scripture: God rained manna in the wilderness (Exodus 16), sustained Elijah through ravens (1 Kings 17), and feeds all creatures in their due season (Psalm 104:27–28; 145:15–16). Jesus declares himself the Bread of Life (John 6:35) — the one who truly nourishes the soul for eternal life. Every act of eating is, theologically, an acknowledgment of dependence on God, the great sustainer of life.
