טוּל
tul
Verb
to hurl, to cast

Definition

To hurl, cast, or throw with force. Used for violent casting — hurling into the sea, throwing from a height, or being flung into exile. The word conveys decisive, powerful action, often by God Himself as He judges nations or rescues His people through dramatic intervention.

Usage & Theological Significance

Tul reveals God as the One who acts decisively. Jonah was hurled into the sea (Jonah 1:12), yet it was precisely through this violent casting that God accomplished salvation — both Jonah's and Nineveh's. Micah 7:19 uses this word to declare that God will 'hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.' What seems like destruction becomes deliverance.
