יְהוָה צִדְקֵנוּ
YHWH Tsidkenu
Proper noun (divine name)
The LORD Our Righteousness

Definition

A compound divine name formed from YHWH and tsidqenu ("our righteousness," from tsedek, H6664). Proclaimed by Jeremiah as the name of the coming Messianic King, this name announces that the righteousness needed for covenant standing with God would not come from human effort but from God Himself.

Usage & Theological Significance

YHWH Tsidkenu is the Old Testament anticipation of the Pauline doctrine of justification. Sinful humanity cannot generate the righteousness God requires — God Himself would supply it through His anointed King. Jesus is precisely this: made "to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21). The name is a prophetic anchor for every soul who grasps that acceptance before God rests not on what we do but on who Christ is for us.
