אֲנָחֲרַת
Anacharath
Proper noun, location
Anaharath

Definition

Anacharath (אֲנָחֲרַת) is a place name identifying a city within the tribal territory of Issachar in the land of Canaan. It appears in Joshua 19:19 in the boundary description of Issachar's inheritance. The site is associated with modern En-Nura in the Jezreel Valley.

Usage & Theological Significance

The tribal allotments of the land represent God's covenantal fulfillment — the promised inheritance being distributed to each tribe exactly as God swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Every city named in the boundary lists, including Anacharath, is testimony to God's faithfulness. "Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses" (1 Kings 8:56).
