אֱנָשׁ
Enash
Noun, masculine (Aramaic)
Man, human being

Definition

Enash is the Aramaic equivalent of Hebrew enosh (H582), meaning man or human being. It emphasizes humanity in its mortal, frail dimension. Appears frequently in Daniel and Ezra in descriptions of human figures, the limits of human authority, and visions of the Son of Man.

Usage & Theological Significance

The Aramaic term enash appears in Daniel's great vision of the Son of Man (bar enash) coming on the clouds of heaven (Daniel 7:13). Jesus famously took this title for Himself — combining divine authority with true human identification. The word that denotes human frailty becomes the title of the one who redeems humanity.
