Definition

Paal is commonly used of God's mighty works (Numbers 23:23: "what God has wrought!") and of human deeds that will be judged. In Psalm 15, the man who "does no evil to his neighbor" (paal) is the one who may dwell on God's holy hill. The word frames both divine creative action and moral human activity — deeds have permanence and consequences.
