פָּרַץ
Parats
Verb
To break out, burst forth, breach

Definition

The Hebrew verb parats (פָּרַץ) means to break out, burst through, breach, or spread abroad. It describes both violent breaking and joyful expansion — a blessing that presses out in all directions. The word appears about 50 times.

Usage & Theological Significance

God tells Jacob, "thou shalt spread abroad (parats) to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south" (Genesis 28:14). The name Perez (H6557) derives from parats — Tamar cries: "What a breach you have made!" (Genesis 38:29). Perez becomes an ancestor of David and Christ (Matthew 1:3) — the blessing that breaks through all human calculations of precedence.
