אֲרוֹדִי
Arodi
Adjective / Gentlic
Arodite / Of Arod

Definition

The Hebrew arodi (אֲרוֹדִי) is a gentlic form meaning 'of Arod' — a descendant of Arod, son of Gad. It appears in the tribal census of Numbers 26, identifying one of the clans of the tribe of Gad.

Usage & Theological Significance

The tribal lists of Israel, though genealogically dry on the surface, carry the profound message that God's covenant reaches every family. The Arodites, a small clan within Gad, were counted among God's covenant people with equal standing. In Galatians 3:28, Paul announces the New Covenant fulfillment: 'There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.' The principle remains: everyone has a name and a place in God's family.
