To deceive, beguile, deal treacherously

Definition

A primitive root meaning to hurl β€” and by extension, to deceive or beguile. Used of human deception, fraud, and treachery.

Ramah carries the weight of betrayal. In Genesis 29:25, Jacob confronts Laban: 'Wherefore hast thou beguiled me?' β€” the deceiver being deceived. Exodus 15:1 uses the same root for God's triumph. Those who deceive others are ultimately overthrown by God.
