Rasha means wicked, guilty, or criminal. It appears about 265 times. It describes those who violate God's law and oppress others. The rasha is the antithesis of the tsaddiq (righteous).

Usage & Theological Significance

The wicked prosper temporarily but face ultimate judgment. Psalm 1 contrasts the way of the righteous with the way of the wicked. The prophets condemn the wicked who exploit the poor. Yet God desires that the wicked turn from their ways and live (Ezekiel 33:11).
