אֶבֶץ
Ebets
Proper noun, place
Abez (town in Issachar)

Definition

Ebets (also spelled Abez) is a town in the territory of Issachar, mentioned only in Joshua 19:20. Its exact location is uncertain, but it was part of the inheritance allotted to Issachar west of the Jordan.

Usage & Theological Significance

Though mentioned only once, Ebets testifies to the faithfulness of God in fulfilling His promise to give each tribe its inheritance. The detailed boundary lists in Joshua 13–21 represent God's meticulous care over His covenant people — every city, every valley, every tribe accounted for. These lists remind us that God's promises are not vague or approximate but specific and complete.
