A Mark 6:31 Morning
September 15, 2011 · Men's Ministry
I Like using this concept, and for anyone wishing to try it out, just know this: you have to get up a little earlier than 0630! I know it's hard, but the Bible promises that God will give us enough sleep as long as we're not working too hard… don't believe me? Check it out here!

And He said to them, Come away by yourselves to a quiet place, and take a rest for a time. Because there were a great number coming and going, and they had no time even for food. Mark 6:31 (Bible in Basic English)
Sunday was the day we celebrated the resurrection, and in the gospels we read that Mary Magdalene, (and as Luke says “certain other women”) went “very early in the morning;” John says “while it was still dark”. So I had it in my heart to get up early and go to a place to watch the sun come up, and worship as I remembered the SON rising up from the dead.
I have to tell you it was well worth the sleep I sacrificed to get up early on a Sunday, and an added benefit was a new way of looking at quiet time. In this verse in Mark, the disciples get so busy with life that they don’t have time even to have a meal. As I was looking at the time the sun would come up (around 6:45) I figured I’d see what chapter 6 in one of the gospels said, to see if it related to what I was going to try to do. Low and behold I found this verse, and so from now on, when I want to meet with God early on a day I normally wouldn’t wake up early (Saturday or Sunday or while on leave) I’m going to call it having “a Mark 6:31 morning”
As you can see from the photo I took with my iPhone, the Lord blessed us more than we could ever hope to bless Him. It was a spectacular morning to worship on the Potomac river. I hope this might start a new tradition as well.
I pray each of you find your own way to have a Mark 6:31 morning in the midst of all the busy-ness of life. I’m sure you’ve heard b-u-s-y means being under Satan’s yoke, so let’s shake that off and take on Jesus’ which is easy, and His burden is light. Perhaps for you BUSY will now take on a new meaning: Being Under the Son's Yoke. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about!
Peace,
Adam
