A Once a Year Elevation Opportunity

September 02, 2011 · Spiritual Formation

So I turned 33 yesterday, and started the day with this Facebook post: “33 years, and starting the day right – just wanna be like Someone else Who lived to this age"

Today I followed with this post: “Just want to send a shout out to everyone who remembered or was reminded to send birthday wishes to me yesterday. By WISHES, of course I mean (Welcome Inspiring Sincere Hopeful Encouraging Salutations) I'm sure I looked like that guy in the “Windows phone commercial" to some people as I replied to y'all – but thats what someone does who believes in “elevating the level of communication" – at least I didn't drop my phone in the urinal!!"

I really enjoyed writing everyone back throughout the day, but I was definitely BUSY (which I define Being Under the Son's Yoke) and I'm looking forward to a good BREAK this weekend (Beautiful Rest Extended by Almighty King) – please click on the links to see where I get these CRAZY acronyms (Christ Redeemed Adam Zealously, Yeah!!!)

I hope more and more people will catch on that we are here on this earth to experience relationships. First with our Creator, and secondly with each other. One person replied to that second post today saying he did the same thing, and that made me smile. I know I'm not the only one, but I also know not enough people are intentional about building and maintaining meaningful relationships.

Relationships definitely take center stage on a day like today which was an emotional roller-coaster for me from a motivating bible study to hearing about suicide on the west coast and another possible suicide on the east coast; from being left a message about marital problems to overhearing about a dating relationship that's planning to terminate an unwanted pregnancy; from a wonderful reunion of old friends to a father and son not being able to communicate because of past hurts on both sides… I've been all over the map of feelings from before sun-up to now after sun-down. The one thing that remains is the importance of meaningful relationships. Without them, we just drift through life alone, surrounded by people we barely know.

Some people go a lifetime without figuring this out… I'm now 33, and I'm telling as many people as I can.

peace,
Adam
