(This is a post I also shared on social media after getting this article from uncle last night – felt it was worth as wide of an audience as possible; please feel free to share — sunlight is the best disinfectant!)
With all that is going on in the news these days, I just thought I’d share this personal/family story I’ve been following for a while which parallels but preceded my investigation for “extremism” in the military back in 2021… The Johns men just have a way of stirring the pot, I guess!
My story over the last year of my Marine Corps career pales in comparison to what my uncle Joe went through, which spanned over a decade in the Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Austrian Air Force as a Chaplain – almost 2 decades in fact … beginning in Iraq and Afghanistan in the mid 2000’s and ending just recently — this article was just published last night:
I think it’s important for all Christians serving in any capacity/level of ministry to beware of institutional corruption… “the human heart is an idol factory…” as the Reformer John Calvin said… always has been, always will be – and not everyone takes well to the Divine Heart Transplant… (Ezekiel 36:26)
Interestingly enough, I’m still very trusting of individuals… I firmly believe in the principles Steven Covey wrote about in “The Speed of Trust,” and I like the fast- paced life… we have to redeem the time in these evil days, right? (Ephesians 5:14-16)
Plus, as I make the most of every opportunity, I know if I’m injured in any way by acts of betrayal or otherwise; unlike Maximus in Gladiator, I don’t need to “have my vengeance in this life or the next.” On the contrary, I trust in the Lord to settle the score — vengeance is His; He takes care of the recompense! (Deuteronomy 32:35; Romans 12:19-21)
I just need to keep my eyes on Him; He suffered way more than I’ll ever have to! (2 Chronicles 20:12; Hebrews 12:2-3)
Happy Friday Jr. Y’all!
Perfect peace,
Adam
