Well it's getting late so this will be short, but we got here, and I'll post where “here" is when it becomes where “was" when we leave. OPSEC is paramount!
Here was a quick photo I snapped with my iPhone as we flew over scenic middle America, and I gave this post the title I did because when it's a Sunday morning like this: the battle phrog is my sanctuary, and I sing as I hear the beat of the rotor blades spinning at 264 RPM especially while flying for 5 hours like we did today.
I also mentioned Jesus to my copilot in a nonchalant way as we talked about another pilot who seemed in a bad mood that we skipped the 7 o'clock brief to get the aircraft ready this morning. After all, we briefed the flight in full on Friday so we wouldn't have to meet in the ready room which is about a mile from the flight line where the 46's are parked.
Apparently there was a little miscommunication and my copilot asked if this other pilot was usually that way, and I simply said, “I'm not really sure but maybe they just need Jesus." Which I think is a non-offensive way of using the Name of the One we're told will be a Rock of Offense, and I hope to write more on that theme this week.
But Jesus' name doesn't have to be taken negatively the way people usually do, and if people are using His name in vain, maybe we Believers should use His name purposefully, even if in light-hearted situations… I remember a few weeks ago a Marine Gunny remarked to a co-worker engaged in “playful banter:" “do you want Jesus to see you like that when He comes back!?!"
So maybe you will see opportunities this week to lighten the mood by talking about the Light of the World, because one thing is for sure: many people just need Jesus!
Peace,
Adam
PS: don't worry if the other person just changes the subject, that's what happened to me, but you might just see another opportunity…
