“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 3:11(NKJV)
The “No other foundation" that this verse is referring to is the foundation for salvation and relationship with the Father, but I have this peculiar desire to see scripture applied to all aspects of my life, sometimes to a fault, but hopefully you won't fault me for this one.
Bear with me as I make a connection from this verse about Jesus to what Jesus showed us in His life. Since He is the foundation on which we build our relationship with God, and since God desires us to build relationships with each other, perhaps our relationships would stand more solid if Jesus was the foundation for them as well.
I asked the following question To my 30 Mighty Men this morning: “since foundations are a big deal, especially in friendships, what is yours for yours?" Friendships can be founded on many things: trust, love, compatibility, convenience… But for me personally, there's no foundation like the “Solid Rock" and it is my goal to have Him at the center of my friendships, because I believe that when He is the foundation, the friendships will stand no matter what challenges may test them.
I encourage you who have taken the time to read this to consider what you are basing your friendships on. We've been given an example from Scripture, just as Jesus said in John 15:15: “Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me." (NLT)
Knowledge of God provides perfect context for elevating our communication to build relationships on a solid foundation that will last!
Peace,
Adam
