Goodbye 262, Hello HMX

August 02, 2009 · General

Once again, it's been way to long since I've updated this blog, and I must confess, Facebook is much to blame.  However, with the inspiration of my wife and her blogging prowess, as well as some key events in the last few months, I think I have the ammunition to contribute to the blogging world. This first post is simply about leaving one squadron and arriving at another.  I've got a couple pictures of my last day at the squadron where I was blessed to receive an award for my 4 1/2 years at HMM-262 from the current 31st MEU Commander, Col Damren (also a former Flying Tiger CO).  Although I share these photos, I do want to add (as I said to my fellow Flying Tigers) it's not about me.  Nothing I accomplished over my 4 1/2 years at the squadron was done alone, and because of the hard work of those around me I was fortunate enough to be recognized on my way out the door.

I wanted to post these because nobody in my family was able to be present, (Maria and Gideon helping with the pack-up and move out, and the extended family all in the states of course)
This is me getting ready to check in… I don't wear this much, so it's good to get a picture when I do.
Here's a shot of going in the front gate of MCAF
(Marine Corps Air Facility) Quantico.  Unfortunately for you viewers, it's the only picture I'm allowed to show you…

(obviously with the high security following the President's helicopter squadron you can't take any pictures there.)
So that's it for now, I hope to put some posts up about my trip up to Kings Point as well as the 6 days I spent in TX.  Stay tuned.
