I was getting ready to go flying… – lots of gear huh?

David, I just got a message from Hannah and it spurred something so I thought I’d send a message out for the blog:

Hey everyone,

Hope all is well, with you wherever you are. I’ve been really blessed lately with letters and packages, so thanks a lot. I recently got an e-mail from my sister and it caused me to read a passage of scripture and I thought I’d share something with all of you, and thank you also for your prayers.

Hannah signed her e-mail with Prov. 16:3 and she usually uses Prov 3:5&6, so I looked up the 16:3 verse and it really blessed me cause it says “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed” The reason this blessed me is because I’m coming up on rotating out of Okinawa when I get back from Iraq and I’m at another point where I ask God, what’s next? I’m sure you all have those moments, but they’re not every day. You’ll be settled in to a job or a town, unless you’re like my brother Ron who changes jobs every 6 months. Ok just kidding, he’s been with Way port for a while. But anyway, it’s good to know that if I commit my whatever I do to the Lord, then it’ll be a success, no matter what it is.

But what really blessed me after that is I read on down to verse 7, which says “When a man’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, He makes even his enemies live at peace with him. The reason I really enjoyed reading this was that as I think about my over 150 hours of flying all over Iraq now in the past 2 ½ months, I haven’t been shot at once, and that’s including flying over places like Bagdad, Fallujah, Taji, and Ramadi. Not that I’m bragging, but the reality is that many of my squadron mates have seen tracer rounds fired in the direction of their aircraft. Hopefully this doesn’t worry many of you, however it is war… But I believe that when God’s pleased with the way I’m living my life for him, even when I’m flying over cities where enemies want to shoot me down, God makes them at peace with me, and I haven’t gotten shot at once. This will be an even greater testimony when I leave here in another 4-5 months, but I figured I’d share it with you now, because now is when He showed it to me.

God bless you all, thanks for your prayers, and may the Lord be pleased with your ways.
