Today has been a wonderfully remarkable day! I just lost this post because I was doing it on my iphone and the new App crashed on me right after I finished it, so any subscribers got a blank email, and I apologize. Now I'm up later, but since I think it was the enemy's work, I'll persist and not let him win, so here's the re-write:
Recently, I've been like a candle burning at both ends, and I've had many pans on many burners and the fire has been scorching hot, so as it was bound to happen, one dish got a little over cooked because I didn't pay it enough attention and I served up a big burnt zero on my Command and Staff quiz this morning. Command and Staff (C&S) Professional Military Education for a Major in the Marine Corps, and it's optional for me right now, but I decided to add it to my already crowded plate, and the results are predictable… It's what happens when the required 3 hours of reading is attempted in 5 minutes; however the 5 minutes gave me a thought worth posting on the Tun Tavern Fellowship Facebook group page, it was the first quote at the top of the page in “Lesson 4" and it reads as follows:
“The more mechanical become the weapons with which we fight, the less mechanical must be the spirit which controls them" – MajGen JFC Fuller
I then added: “Who knew C&S quotes would apply to using technology to build relationships in spiritual warfare!?!"
I'd like to elaborate on what that quote means to me here on the blog, since this is the place to do that, and FB is just where I like to post teasers from time to time…
For me, the approach I take to building relationships can get quite mechanical, with my elevating the level of communication concept, and iphone apps for to-do lists, as well as the systematic approach to blending home, work and ministry. HOWEVER, I must allow the Holy Spirit to teach me and “guide me in ALL Truth" as I go about the business of building and sustaining meaningful relationships. And this Spirit of which I speak is anything but mechanical, see John 3:8 for an example of that!
Just as important is to remember that all the plans I can come up with in my heart will end just as Proverbs 16:9 puts it, with a “BUT GOD" and this definitely gives an enhanced perspective on things, doesn't it? I wonder if I'm the only one who has the tendency to analyze and come up with mathmatical plans for stuff like this… If anyone else out there likes to do this, let my misery in the realization of the futility of my plans enjoy the company of your comments. This journey is best walked together… that King Solomon had some good points…
Peace,
Adam
Full Disclosure: I did participate in a lively discussion during the 2 hour class today which should get me some credit. It's a one-day-a-week seminar, which takes 208 hours total over 2 years… not the 10 month, 8 hours a day resident course that somebody special is encouraging me to pursue right now…
