Time Off and Time Out

Well I found out Thursday evening that my 10 days off for paternal leave were finished and I had to go to work Friday to FCF a phrog, and I also found out I'd be leaving Sunday for a little while.

I must say, it was kind of expected, because I really have had it easy at work – Ops taking me off duty and trips during the last few weeks of Maria's pregnancy. It was a “pay me now, or pay me later" deal, and later is here. (Full disclosure: the Tuesday Boaz was born was counted as day 1, but I didn't think it counted… thats how I messed up the “math for Marines")

I'll be sure to post a couple times while gone… I should have time, but I'm going to change the topic to Jesus for next week…

My last thoughts on time will be short and simple and probably not very profound. The first is that when you take time off it's never from being although it might be from doing. I had ten days of not DOING Marine stuff, but we are Marines 24/7. Also this week my pastor is taking some time off preaching but you better believe he's BEING salt and light wherever he goes!

The second point on time is that sometimes we have to sit in “time out" like Gideon is doing right now… And whatever that reason for “time out," or wherever that “time out" is, know that it is for your good, and the sooner you accept it, the sooner you'll get out of it… Granted this definitely doesn't apply to ALL the “hard times" in life, which I never really got around to writing about… So if it doesn't apply, don't try to apply it, but as we say when briefing “lost comm" situations in the aircraft: “the first thing we'll do is make sure we didn't do it to ourselves…

Peace,
Adam
