First Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Richmond is a historic mainline Presbyterian congregation. The PCUSA denomination has moved far from its orthodox Reformed roots: it ordains women and LGBTQ+ persons, performs same-sex marriages, and does not require inerrancy. While the congregation may have sincere members and a rich history, the denominational theology is incompatible with conservative evangelical convictions. The PCA churches in Richmond (Third Church, City Church, River City Church) represent what the PCUSA abandoned. Not recommended.
