CRISIS: From 2020-2024, Senior Minister Mark Booker at center of disagreements with staff and elders. July 2023 17-page letter from former Associate Minister Michael Balboni alleged toxic culture, muzzling of dissent, denigration of congregants, pastoral-confidentiality violations, and controlling behavior. Three ministers (Long, Kam, Linnell) and two elders (Liu, Assogba) resigned. A Vicinage Council report (July 2024) exonerated Booker but a majority of the ministerial staff refused to sign a letter of affirmation. In June 2024, members voted against affirming Booker as senior pastor.
