Christology
Is Jesus the only way? (John 14:6)
Nominally affirms Christ but TEC's broad inclusivism increasingly softens exclusivity claims
Caution
Scripture
Inerrancy affirmed? Final authority?
The Episcopal Church (TEC) has formally departed from biblical authority on sexuality and gender — affirms same-sex marriage, LGBTQ+ ordination
WARNING!
Men's Discipleship
Intentional formation for men?
No evidence of intentional men's discipleship; primary community focus
Caution
Soteriology
Faith alone? How is salvation presented?
Episcopal tradition broadly views salvation; TEC leans universalist in practice if not confession
Caution
Gender / Biblical Design
Biblical manhood and womanhood by God's design — patriarchal, complementarian, egalitarian, or affirming gender ideology?
The Episcopal Church (TEC) formally ordains women as priests, bishops, and rectors. Full LGBTQ+ affirmation. Male rector here, but denomination actively promotes egalitarian theology at every institutional level. Episcopal = black by framework.
TEC ordains women at all levels and affirms LGBTQ+ clergy/marriage; Episcopal denomination is actively egalitarian

Caution
Mission Clarity
Great Commission central?

Disqualifier
Accountability Structure
Denominational home, elder plurality, or external network — is the pastor answerable to anyone?
Episcopal is institutionally apostate — departed from biblical authority on sexuality, gender, and marriage.

Assessment
St. George's is a historic colonial-era church with a beautiful building and rich liturgical tradition, but The Episcopal Church has made formal institutional commitments to LGBTQ+ affirmation that place it outside biblical alignment on sexuality, gender, and in many ways Scripture's final authority. The rector is credentialed and experienced, but VTS (Virginia Theological Seminary) is among the most progressive Episcopal seminaries. For Moop who applied for employment here — the job opportunity doesn't require theological agreement, but discipleship-wise this is not the church to call home.
