Assessment
Zion Presbyterian Church is one of the most theologically rigorous options in the Fredericksburg area. It is a congregation of the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) — a denomination that holds to Biblical inerrancy and the original Westminster Confession of Faith without modification. This is not the touchy-feely mainline PCUSA Presbyterian; this is hard-core Westminster Calvinist confessionalism. Pastor Rom Prakashpalan is a converted Hindu/atheist who came to faith through hearing the Gospel (Romans 10:17), graduated RPTS with an MDiv, and was installed here in November 2024. The church is very new (2023) and meets at Fredericksburg Christian School. Two Sunday services (10:30 AM and 2:00 PM) plus a Thursday prayer meeting demonstrate seriousness. The lack of men's ministry is understandable for a plant this young. For a man who wants unapologetic Reformed confessionalism and a pastor with a powerful conversion testimony, this is a must-visit.
