Netflix and ChillMILL
/ˈnɛt.flɪks ənd tʃɪl/
millennial slang
Generation 1981-1996
Emerged around 2014-2015 as a euphemism for inviting someone over for sex under the pretext of watching Netflix. Within a year it became a known meme and a cultural marker of casual-hookup dating.

🔍 Definition

A dating-culture euphemism for inviting someone over for sexual activity framed as watching streaming TV together. "Wanna Netflix and chill?" is rarely actually about TV.

⚖️ Biblical Verdict

🔴
REJECT
Euphemism for fornication is still fornication. The cute phrasing does not sanctify the act.

Paul is unambiguous: "Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body" (1 Cor 6:18). "This is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality" (1 Thess 4:3). "Netflix and chill" is the millennial packaging for what Scripture calls porneia — fornication — with a casual cover story. The cover story does not alter the substance. Christians do not go to someone's place for "Netflix and chill." They marry, or they stay out. The middle path the culture invented is not a Christian option.

🌎 Cultural Backdrop

Fornication rebranded as casual hangout. The phrasing is cute; the biblical verdict is severe.

Hookup culture thrives on soft vocabulary that minimizes the act. "Netflix and chill" is one of many such phrases — "hanging out," "a vibe," "just hooking up" — all designed to detach the behavior from biblical or social weight. Scripture refuses the detachment: sexual union is always covenantal weight, whether acknowledged or not, and casual use of the body's covenantal fidelity corrodes both souls involved. Christians rename the phrase: temptation, not Netflix. Leave. Plan the date at a public location. Marry the one you cannot imagine being separate from; abstain from the rest.

📖 Key Scripture

1 Corinthians 6:18-20"Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body."

1 Thessalonians 4:3"For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality."

Hebrews 13:4"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous."

Genesis 39:12"She caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me." But he left his garment in her hand and fled and got out of the house."

✍️ MOOP's Reframe

"Netflix and chill" is a cute label on fornication. The label does not change the act. Christians flee, like Joseph — without negotiation, without explanation.

MILL says:

“"What are you up to tonight?" "Thinking about inviting him over for Netflix and chill."”

Scripture says:

“Flee from sexual immorality.”

— 1 Corinthians 6:18-20
