Spiritual weapons are the saint's arsenal in spiritual combat: not carnal but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds. They include the Word of God (sword of the Spirit), prayer (in all its forms), the blood of the Lamb, the testimony of the saints, the Name of Christ, and the unity of the brethren. Each is named in Scripture and authorized for use.
(2 Cor 10:4.) The saint's arsenal in spiritual combat: not carnal but mighty through God.
Paul's 2 Corinthians 10:4 names the category; Ephesians 6 lists six pieces; Revelation 12:11 adds two more (the blood of the Lamb and the word of testimony).
Other weapons appear scattered: the Name of Christ (Acts 16:18, 19:13-17), praise (Acts 16:25-26), fasting (Mt 17:21), agreement in prayer (Mt 18:19), unity of the brethren (Ps 133).
2 Corinthians 10:4 — "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds."
Revelation 12:11 — "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."
James 4:7 — "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
Ephesians 6:18 — "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance."
Modern Christianity often defaults to flesh-weapons in spiritual battles — argument, manipulation, force; Scripture forbids them and supplies an arsenal that works.
2 Corinthians 10:4 is unambiguous: the weapons are not carnal. Argument, manipulation, political force, and emotional pressure are the weapons of the flesh. The saint's arsenal is different.
Revelation 12:11 names the conquering pattern: they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Three weapons: the cross, the testimony, and willingness to die. Cultures change at this combination.
Greek hopla (weapons) and strateuma (warfare).
Greek hopla — weapons, arms.
Greek strateuma — warfare, military service.
"The weapons are not carnal."
"Argument, manipulation, force are flesh-weapons; the saint's are different."
"Blood of the Lamb, word of testimony, willingness to die — the conquering pattern."
