The danger of theological triage is not in the framework itself but in its misapplication. Progressive evangelicals use triage language to demote clear biblical teachings (such as sexual ethics, gender roles, and the exclusivity of Christ) from first-tier essentials to third-tier opinions. "We can agree to disagree" becomes a tool for smuggling heresy into the church under the guise of charity. True triage requires courage as well as humility: the courage to draw firm lines on essential doctrines, and the humility to extend liberty where Scripture allows it.
