ἅμα
háma
Adverb / Preposition
Together / At the same time / Along with

Definition

The Greek word háma (ἅμα) means together, at the same time, or at once. It denotes simultaneity or accompaniment — events or persons being together at the same moment.

Usage & Theological Significance

Háma carries beautiful theological weight in 1 Thessalonians 4:17 — 'and so we will be with the Lord forever.' The resurrection of the dead and the transformation of the living happen háma — together, at once — so that no believer is left behind or disadvantaged. The great reunion happens simultaneously. Paul also uses it in 1 Thessalonians 5:10: 'whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.' The promise is eternal togetherness with Christ and with one another — the ultimate háma of God's family.
