From megaleios (magnificent). Denotes magnificence, grandeur, or divine mighty power. Used of the magnificent greatness of God that evokes awe and worship.
At Pentecost, the crowd heard the disciples declaring 'the mighty deeds of God' in various languages (Acts 2:11). Peter testified to seeing Christ's majesty at the transfiguration (2 Peter 1:16). Luke records that the people were amazed at the greatness of God through Jesus' miracles (Luke 9:43). This word points to the visible manifestation of God's power that demands a response of worship.
