Περιλαμπω
Perilampō
Verb
To Shine Around / To Illumine

Definition

From peri (around) and lampō (to shine). To shine around, to illuminate from all sides. Used of the heavenly light at Jesus' birth announcement and Paul's conversion.

Usage & Theological Significance

The glory of the Lord 'shone around' the shepherds at the birth announcement (Luke 2:9), and a light from heaven 'shone around' Paul on the Damascus road (Acts 26:13). In both cases, divine light invaded darkness to deliver a life-changing message. God breaks into human darkness with blinding revelation.
