Passage / Section (of Scripture)

Definition

From periechō (to contain). A section or passage of text, particularly of Scripture. Used in Acts 8:32 of the passage of Isaiah that the Ethiopian eunuch was reading.

Usage & Theological Significance

The Ethiopian eunuch was reading a specific passage of Isaiah — Isaiah 53, the Suffering Servant prophecy (Acts 8:32). Philip used that very passage to tell him the good news about Jesus. Every passage of Scripture points to Christ, and the Spirit guides seekers to the right text at the right time.
