Πισιδια
Pisidia
Noun, Proper
Pisidia (Region)

Definition

A region in southern Asia Minor (modern Turkey). Paul visited Pisidian Antioch during his first missionary journey and delivered a pivotal sermon in the synagogue there.

Usage & Theological Significance

Paul's sermon at Pisidian Antioch (Acts 13:16-41) is one of the most important in Acts. He traced salvation history from the Exodus through David to Jesus, declaring that through Christ 'everyone who believes is set free from every sin' (Acts 13:39). When the Jews rejected the message, Paul turned to the Gentiles. Pisidian Antioch became a turning point: rejection by some opened the door for others.
