El Olam (אֵל עוֹלָם) — "the Everlasting God" — is the divine name invoked by Abraham at Beersheba after his covenant with Abimelech: "And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God" (Genesis 21:33). The Hebrew olam denotes long duration receding beyond view in both directions — the unbounded ages, before and after. Isaiah celebrates the same name: "Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?" (Isaiah 40:28). Christian men praying to El Olam address the God who is beneath every age, before every beginning, beyond every end.

Modern Christianity follows trends; El Olam outlasts every fashion.
El Olam is one of the most stabilizing divine names. He is the everlasting God — before the mountains were brought forth, from everlasting to everlasting (Ps 90:2). Abraham planted a grove and worshipped this God at Beersheba; the empires of his day are dust; the Lord still answers when His name is invoked.
Modern Christianity often follows the latest trend in worship style, theological emphasis, and cultural posture. El Olam outlasts every fashion. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the same God of the man reading this entry. Worship the Everlasting; the worship will outlast you.
