Door
DAWR
noun (Christ-title)
Old English duru. Hebrew delet (H1817); Greek thura (G2374). One of Christ's seven “I AM” sayings in John's Gospel: I am the door of the sheep.

📖 Biblical Definition

In John 10:9, Christ identifies Himself as the door: "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." The article is exclusive. Christ does not call Himself a door (one possible point of entry among others); He calls Himself the door — the only legitimate entry into the sheepfold of God’s people and the only legitimate exit from it into pasture. "He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber" (v. 1). Every religion that does not enter by Christ enters by climbing — and the climber is unmasked as a thief by the door’s own claim.

John 10:7"I am the door of the sheep."

John 10:9"I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."

⚠️ Modern Corruption

Modern pluralism manufactures many doors; Christ said I am THE door.

expand to see more

The seven “I AM” sayings of John are not seven options on a religious menu. They are seven exclusive claims by the same Person: the bread, the light, the door, the good shepherd, the resurrection, the way, the true vine. The article in Greek is emphatic. There is no a door, no menu of doors; there is one entrance and one Person standing in it.

Modern pluralism builds many doors. Religious leaders and best-selling authors openly claim that the major faiths are equally valid paths up the same mountain. Christ disagrees. Acts 4:12 disagrees. The cost of multiplying doors is forfeiting the only One that opens. Walk through Him by faith. The door is open today; tomorrow it may be shut, as Matthew 25 warns.
