Biblical foundation, leadership, and the mission behind the ministry.
Sexual brokenness is one of the most devastating and least-addressed challenges in the church today. Men suffer in silence. Marriages collapse. Families fracture. And yet the pulpit rarely goes there.
The Freedom Group exists because silence is not pastoral. Scripture speaks directly to this battle — and so must the church.
"And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him — a threefold cord is not quickly broken."
— Ecclesiastes 4:12
We believe that sexual integrity is not achieved through willpower alone. It is built through accountable brotherhood, honest confession, and the sustained application of God's Word. This group provides the structure for all three.
Galatians 5:1 is not aspirational poetry. It is a declaration. Christ purchased freedom. Our job is to stand in it and not return to chains.
Psalm 119:9 — "How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word." Scripture is not supplemental. It is the primary tool.
James 5:16 commands us to confess to one another. This is not a suggestion for the spiritually mature — it is a design feature of the church.
1 John 1:7 — "If we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."
You cannot outrun a false identity. Before behavior changes, the man must know who God says he is. 2 Corinthians 5:17 is the starting line, not the finish line.
Adam Johns is a United States Marine Corps veteran, lay minister, and certified counselor based in Fredericksburg, VA. He holds a Master of Divinity from Liberty University and is NASM certified in personal training, nutrition, and wellness.
Adam founded U.S.M.C. Ministries to equip men for the full spectrum of their calling — as husbands, fathers, leaders, and brothers in Christ. The Freedom Group is one expression of that mission.
Adam has walked through his own journey of sexual integrity and brings both personal honesty and biblical conviction to his facilitation. He is not a therapist — he is a man who has fought and continues to fight the same battle.
The Freedom Group operates under the pastoral covering and blessing of Dr. Dan Cook at Spotswood Baptist Church, Fredericksburg VA. Dr. Cook provides spiritual oversight and accountability for the program and its facilitator.
Spotswood Baptist Church is the host church for the Freedom Group. All meetings are held on church property.
This group doesn't work without it. We say the true thing, even when it's hard.
We use tools — Covenant Eyes, accountability partners, check-ins. Structure is grace in action.
Every principle, every tool, every week points back to the Word. Psychology is useful. The Bible is authoritative.
We are building men who lead — their families, their churches, their communities. Sexual integrity is not the ceiling. It is the floor.
