About the Group
What exactly is the Freedom Group?
The Freedom Group is a closed, confidential 12-week men's group focused on sexual integrity and accountability. It meets weekly and uses Scripture, honest discussion, and structured accountability to help men walk out of patterns of pornography and sexual sin. It is not a lecture series — it is a brotherhood.
Is this a therapy group?
No. The Freedom Group is a Christ-centered discipleship group, not a clinical therapy group. The facilitator is not a licensed therapist. If you are dealing with trauma, addiction-level dependency, or mental health issues that require clinical care, we strongly encourage you to pursue both — this group and a licensed counselor. The two complement each other well.
How many men are in each group?
Groups are intentionally small — between 5 and 8 men. This size is small enough for real honesty and large enough for meaningful accountability and brotherhood. Once the group reaches capacity, a waitlist is formed for the next cohort.
Where does the group meet?
The Freedom Group meets at Spotswood Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, VA. The specific room and meeting day/time will be confirmed when the group launches. Meetings are currently planned for Tuesday evenings. See the contact page for updates.
Is there a cost to join?
The group itself is free. You will be expected to obtain accountability software (such as Covenant Eyes, which costs approximately $15–17/month) and may want to purchase one or more of the recommended books. No man is turned away for financial reasons — contact the facilitator if cost is a barrier.
Participation
Do I have to be a Christian to join?
The Freedom Group is explicitly Christ-centered. Scripture is our authority, and the group operates from a Christian worldview. You do not need to be a mature believer — men at all stages of faith are welcome. But if you are hostile to faith or unwilling to engage with the Bible, this group is probably not the right fit.
Do I have to attend every week?
Consistency is important. The curriculum builds week by week, and the accountability structure depends on every man showing up. Missing more than two sessions significantly undermines the process for you and the group. If you cannot commit to 10 of 12 sessions, consider waiting for the next cohort.
What if I'm not actively struggling — I just want to build integrity?
The group is designed for men who are actively dealing with pornography or patterns of sexual sin. If you are in a strong season and want to build accountability and integrity, this may still be valuable — but reach out first so we can talk about whether it's the right fit. Men at various stages of the journey have participated.
What if I relapse during the 12 weeks?
You show up and you tell the truth. A relapse does not disqualify you from the group — shame and hiding do. The group exists to walk through the hard weeks together, not to celebrate only the clean ones. What you do after a fall matters more than the fall itself.
Confidentiality
Will my wife find out what I share in the group?
No — not through the group. What you share in the group stays in the group. The facilitator will not report content of confessions to spouses, pastors, or anyone else. You own your own story. We strongly encourage marital honesty as part of the healing process, but that is your decision to make on your own timeline — not ours to make for you.
Will anyone at my church know I'm in this group?
Group membership is confidential. The facilitator will not disclose the names of participants to the church, the covering pastor, or anyone else. The existence of the group is not a secret, but who is in it is.
What if I don't trust the other men in the group?
Trust is built over time. You are not required to share everything on Day 1. Disclosure is progressive — the group earns deeper trust as it demonstrates trustworthiness. Every man signs a confidentiality agreement before the group begins. Read the full confidentiality commitment for details.
Logistics
How do I apply?
Complete the intake form. The facilitator will follow up within a few days to schedule a brief call. That conversation is not an interview — it's to make sure this is the right season for you to join the group.
When does the next group start?
The launch date is being finalized. Submit your intake now to be placed in the queue. The facilitator will contact all applicants with confirmed dates before the group begins. See the contact page for updates.
I'm not in Fredericksburg. Is there a remote option?
The group is currently in-person only. In-person accountability is a core design feature — it is significantly more effective than digital alternatives for this particular battle. If you are not local, we encourage you to explore Proven Men Ministries or Every Man Ministries for remote group options while you look for local community.
