New Earth
NOO URTH
noun phrase
Hebrew erets chadashah (Isa 65:17); Greek ge kaine (2 Pet 3:13, Rev 21:1). The renewed earth of the consummated kingdom — not a replacement, but the same earth liberated from the curse and restored to glory.

📖 Biblical Definition

The renewed earth of the consummated kingdom; the same physical creation God called good in Genesis 1, liberated from the curse of Genesis 3, and restored to its intended glory under the Lamb's rule. Paul calls the present creation groaning in birth pangs (Rom 8) for this very renewal. The new earth is the saint's long-term address, not a stop on the way to disembodied heaven.

1. The terraqueous globe which we inhabit. 2. New earth — in scripture, the renewed creation following the dissolution and renewal of the present heavens and earth at the consummation.

📖 Key Scripture

Isaiah 65:17"Behold, I create new heavens and a new earth."

Romans 8:21"The creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God."

Revelation 21:1"I saw a new heaven and a new earth."

Matthew 5:5"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth."

⚠️ Modern Corruption

Modern Christianity hopes to escape earth; Christ said the meek inherit it.

Christ's third Beatitude is unsentimental: blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Not vague heaven, not disembodied bliss, not endless cloud-strumming. The earth. The Lord intends to give it back to its rightful heirs — renewed, restored, freed from the curse. The meek will walk it; the proud will not.

Romans 8:21 explains why the present creation is groaning: it is in labor for its own delivery into the glorious liberty of the children of God. The same earth that has suffered under sin will share in the saints' resurrection. This is not pantheism; the creation is not God. It is creational theology — the Maker keeps the work of His hands. Long for the new earth; live now as one who knows where the deeds will end up.
